FAQ

Is it easy to change my Accountant?

It’s much easier than people imagine to change accountants. Once our services and fees are agreed the next step is to advise your old Accountant of the change to Horizon. Then leave it to us. We contact your old accountants and request the transfer of data/information that we require to take over. There will be no need for you to be involved in any way after advising of the change.

I want to start a New Business. How long does it take to get registered?

Our package for new business registrations includes Companies Registration Office (CRO) & revenue forms.

The CRO application can be completed in a short time of approx. 4 or 5 working days

The tax registration usually takes an additional 4 to 5 working days.

In between these registrations it is necessary that a new bank account is opened by the client and this can take approx. 7 working days.

So in total maximum 3 weeks from start to finish.

Why do I need an accountant?

Isn’t it just larger businesses that need an accountant?
Of course not, even the smallest business can benefit from advice on ways to minimise tax and manage their accounts. We can handle all of your bookkeeping, VAT returns, payroll & possibly regular management accounts. The added benefit of us being involved reduces your own admin/accounts labour costs & free up your own time to generate sales & profits.

Is it expensive to use an accountant?

Our costs are based on your needs and a possible gap in the time and/or ability of your own team. Our cost should be offset by the value we add to your business. We work closely with our clients to achieve your goals. By getting to know you and your business well, we can tailor what we do specifically for your needs and your strategy.

How do you charge?

We aim to provide you with a fixed fee quote that will cover the areas we will work on. This will be based on the complexity and volume of the tasks involved. Should any additional assignments come up during the year then we will provide a quote in advance. Our fees are paid monthly by standing order, this avoids having a large invoice in one go, which helps your cash flow. Our taxation services are usually invoiced on completion. One thing is for sure, if you telephone with a query you won’t get a bill.

Can I maintain my own accounting records?

If you want to keep your own accounting records, then that is fine. If you need some help then we can give you some training. Ensuring that you understand the best way to prepare your accounting information makes it easier for us to complete your accounts or tax return.

I've been up and running for a couple of years. How can you help me?

Sometimes it helps to have a fresh pair of eyes look at your business. We will listen to you and firstly understand the history of the business and then how you want to develop it. We can carry out a “health check” of the operating systems, management and financial reporting in place; advise on any matters arising and recommend any actions required.
